Promote interest groups for young people in rural areas

Description

Interest groups for young people improve the social participation of the young rural generation in policy-making and dialogue processes and boost their members’ self-confidence, e.g. by running interactive training sessions on public speaking.

Organisations for young people and women in rural areas are a very effective channel for nurturing traditional and modern forms of cultural and social life and connecting them with a modern, partly urban cultural and social life.

Requirements

  • Acceptance / Recognition of the local population
  • Interest and motivation of young people in rural areas to represent their own interests

Possible Negative Effects

  • Initiatives for young people (and women) in rural areas can be undermined in patriarchal societies
  • Public administrations are critical of groupings of young people in rural areas
